Karate Classes!

We are pleased to announce that Brockton Christian School will be offering a new after school class starting in January. Mr. Ernie Thivierge, director of the ABD studio in Raynham, will be offering a six week course in self defense and karate.

Classes for students in grades 2 – 5 will be on Tuesdays and classes for grades 6 – 8 will be on Thursdays from 2:15 – 3:00 PM. Classes will start on January 9 (T) or 11 (TH) and will continue for six weeks. Students will have the opportunity to earn a white belt during this time. The cost will be $55.00 for the six classes, uniform, and belt. Additional sessions of six weeks will be offered for $25.00 (classes only), depending upon interest and enrollment. Classes will meet in the sixth grade classroom in the wing portion of our building.

Students need to sign up this week! Sign up information is in your plastic folders today. Please make out any checks to ABD, NOT BCS!

We’d like to thank all those who supported Brockton Christian School’s Christmas program – “The Saviour Has Been Born.” We are thankful for Teen Challenge, for opening their gymnasium for our program. Special thanks goes to Mr. Garry Burgess, Sr., who gave special effort on our behalf, as well as the Teen Challenge Sound Team!
If you took photos at the program, please share them with us to include in our Yearbook and closing program. Thank you!

Lost and Found

We have quite a few UNLABELED jackets, sweaters, and sweatshirts in our lost and found.  Please stop by the school office to see our “collection” if your child is missing his or her sweater or sweatshirt.

We would appreciate it if you would label your child’s belongings.  It is difficult to return a sweater or sweatshirt to the correct child – the garments all look alike.

It’s Cold Outside!

Please remind your child to wear a sweater to school during our colder days.    You may choose either the cardigan or pullover V-neck uniform sweater for your child to wear.  Harvey Uniforms now offers a polar fleece jacket that may be worn during class.  White turtlenecks may also be worn under the sweater or polo shirts.  Please note that other sweaters or jackets may not be worn in class.  Sweaters or additional clothing may be ordered from Harvey Uniform at 1-800-462-8192.

When students go outside for recess, they should have gloves or mittens and a hat, along with a warm coat!

Our New Teacher!

We are pleased to inform you that a sixth grade teacher has been hired! Mrs. Janet Aronson is our new sixth grade teacher, and started on Tuesday, January 2, 2007.

Mrs. Aronson is a graduate of Boston University, and has also earned a Master’s in Divinity from Bethel Seminary of the East. She has recently been an adjunct professor for Eastern Nazarene College. Mrs. Aronson comes with high recommendations from her professors and other references. She is working on her recertification as a Massachusetts state certified teacher. I am sure that you will be pleased with her work as a teacher. Mrs. Aronson has a long involvement with Brockton Christian School, as her son graduated from BCS a number of years ago.

I wish to thank you for your support during this transition time. I must tell you that I have truly enjoyed teaching the sixth grade class for the past five weeks. I have seen growth and maturity in the class over the past few months, both as a class and individually. And, we have seen Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, at work in providing for the needs of a teacher!

I am excited about our new staff member! Please join me in welcoming her to our staff. – Mrs. Hodges

School Closing Announcements

School closing announcements will be made over radio stations WBET (AM1460) or WEZE (AM 590) and television channels 4, 5, and 7.  BCS utilizes the Brockton Public School transportation, so in the event Brockton Public Schools close, there will be no van transportation.

Class Pictures

We have a limited amount of class photos available in the school office for $7.00 each. If you did not purchase one, and would like one of our extra copies, please contact Mrs. Powell in the school office.  Thank you!

Calendars Still Available!

A limited amount of calendars is still available in the school office for the price of $6.00.  Please contact Mrs. Powell if you would like to purchase any remaining calendars.

Lunch Menu

We are interested in your input with the new offerings by Boston Market in our lunch program.  We will be continuing the Boston Market dinners during the month of January.  Please let us know if you have additional suggestions for catered lunches that we could offer!  Thank you for your patience and understanding with our lunch menu.
