FACILITYBrockton Christian School is located in the Campello section of Brockton, near the West Bridgewater town line. The school occupies the former Keith estate which has been expanded to include ten classrooms, school offices, and a library. In addition, we make use of the adjoining church facility. CLASS SIZETen full-time teachers and five part-time teachers currently serve the student body of over 100. Class size is small, with a maximum of 12 students in the PreK class, 20 students per class in grades K - 3, and 25 per class in grades 4 - 8. Currently our classrooms have between 8 and 17 students per class. STUDENT BODYBrockton Christian School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administrated programs. BCS celebrates and encourages a diverse student body. Fifty percent of students are of African American background, while the remaining students are of Caucasian, Asian, or Hispanic background. Seventy-five percent of the students reside in the city of Brockton, while the remaining students live in 11 local communities, including Randolph, Stoughton, Easton, West Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Taunton, Middleboro and Carver. FACULTYAll staff members are committed Christians who attend and support evangelical churches in the local area. Teachers are expected to maintain state or ACSI certification, and are encouraged to pursue continuing education and advanced degrees. Teachers are Christian role models, and work together as a team to encourage students to reach their full potential in Christ. SCHOOL PROGRAMBrockton Christian School provides a creative learning environment in a traditional setting. BCS uses a variety of curriculum that promotes academic excellence, meeting state and national standards. We administer the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT 10) yearly, and our students score well above the national average. The Bible is taught daily, using the Scriptures as the final source of authority in daily life. Students in grades K - 8 participate in weekly classes of Art, Music, Library, and Physical Education. EXTRA-CURRICULAR PROGRAMSThe Middle School students (grades 6 - 8) have the opportunity to participate in such activities as tech team, service club, chapel helpers, and Yearbook staff. Some students help with peer tutoring. Participation is voluntary, and dependent upon academic as well as behavioral standing. Instrumental music lessons and band are available for grades 4 - 8. ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIESEach year, students in grades 6 - 8 participate in an all-school Science Fair. An Honor Roll is published each quarter for grades 4 - 8. Computers are in each classroom, with internet access in grades 4 - 8, and word processing and educational programs in others. SPIRITUAL LIFEAll students participate in daily class devotions and prayer. Each year, the entire school concentrates of a scriptural theme for the year, allowing for character development and spiritual growth. We use themes, such as character development and peace-making skills, concentrating on traits such as integrity, self discipline, and honesty. A student-led chapel is held once weekly for the entire school. Each class plans and presents one chapel service per year. |
